This segment sells its products under NDS, NDSsi, Dome, JADAK, Skyetek, General Scanning, and Photo Research brand names. The Precision Motion segment designs, manufactures, and markets optical encoders, precision motors and other motion control technology, air bearing spindles, and precision machined components. This segment sells its products under Celera Motion, MicroE, Applimotion, and Westwind brand names. GSI Group Inc. sells its products through its direct sales force, as well as through distributors, including manufacturersÂ' representatives worldwide. The company was formerly known as GSI Lumonics Inc. and changed its name to GSI Group Inc. in 2005. GSI Group Inc. was founded in 1968 and is based in Bedford, Massachusetts.
